New Orleans Bowl Rewind: Day One

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana- The Troy football team had a busy first day preparing for the 2017 R&L Carriers Bowl in New Orleans. The day started with a quick practice at The Vet in Troy before the team embarked to the the Big Easy, where they finished the day with team meetings and the Sun Belt welcome party.Â
The day began with a morning practice in Troy, the last practice in the Vet for over 20 seniors.Â
Following practice, the team traveled to New Orleans where the Trojans held a team meeting before loading the buses the head to their welcome party, hosted by the Sun Belt. Upon arrival to the party, the Trojans were greeted by a jazz band, in true New Orleans fashion. The team enjoyed dinner, arcade games and karaoke to cap off the first day of bowl week festivities.Â
The Trojans will have another busy day on Wednesday as they visit the local hospital, elementary schools, a senior center and other stops in the community, before the team's first practice in the Superdome. Troy will finish the night at the New Orleans Pelicans basketball game.Â
The New Orleans Bowl is scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and will be televised on ESPN.Â
