HONOLULU, Hawai'i – After an offseason of celebrating the program's first-ever Sun Belt Tournament Championship, Troy will kick off the 2017-18 season in Honolulu, Hawai'i against North Dakota in the Rainbow Classic on Friday.
Â
Tip off will be at 8:30 p.m. (CT) with a live radio broadcast by Troy Sports Radio Network and live stats. This will be the third time in the past five seasons that Troy has opened the season on the road.
Â
Friday's game will mark the debut of four different Trojans. Redshirt freshman Darian Adams will be making his debut after being a highly-rated recruit out of Carver High in Montgomery, Ala.
Â
Joining him will be freshmen Javan Johnson and Malik Burnett, who were both ranked as top-10 prospects in the state of Alabama. Fellow freshman Atakan Sahinkaya will round out the new faces on this year's team.
Â
The opener will pit two NCAA Tournament teams together as North Dakota went 22-10 record last season en route to winning the Big Sky. Coach Brian Jones won the Big Sky Coach of the Year and brings back two starters to this year's team.
