UL-Lafayette Tops Troy in Four Sets
TROY, Alabama – Troy (9-20, 3-11 SBC) fell 3-1 to UL-Lafayette (19-9, 12-2 SBC) on Saturday in the Trojan Arena. The Trojans had four players with double-digit kills, and out-killed the Ragin' Cajuns by 24, but fell short of the win.
The Ragin' Cajuns came out looking like the top team in the conference earning a 25-16 win in set one. Troy had three more kills in the set than UL-Lafayette, but its 10 errors stumped the Trojans as the Ragin' Cajuns took an early 1-0 lead.
The Trojans made corrections and bounced back convincingly to take the second set 25-13. Troy posted 19 kills and held the UL-Lafayette offense to just five kills, with a .000 hitting percentage. Troy recorded a match-high .33 hitting percentage in the second set to even the match.
Both teams rallied in the third set, but the Ragin' Cajuns were ultimately able to get the 25-18 win behind a couple of three-point runs. UL-Lafayette closed out the match with a narrow 25-22 win in set four.
At the net, UL-Lafayette out-blocked the Trojans 17-3 behind seven solo stops from Dree'Ana Abram who put up 20.5 points for the visitors.
Sophomores Belle Waldrop and Logan Page both had big nights for Troy with 14 kills with .278 and .233 hitting percentages, respectively. Jenni Young and Cheyenne Hayes also recorded double-digit kills as Young posted 13 and Hayes added 11.

Troy will close out the regular season fighting for a seed in the conference tournament as it takes on Appalachian State on Friday, November 10 for Senior Night and will cap the season against Coastal Carolina on Saturday, November 11. Both matches will begin at 6:30 p.m.
