FOLEY, Alabama – The Troy women's soccer team saw its season come to a close on Wednesday as Georgia Southern scored twice in the final 20 minutes to take a 2-1 victory in the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex.

Kiersten Edlund converted a penalty in the 61^st minute after the Eagles (8-8-2) were called for a handball in the penalty box. It was the first penalty the Trojans (8-10-2) have attempted all season.

Neither team produced many opportunities in the first half as the squads went into the break with just four combined shots.

Georgia Southern tied the game in the 72^nd minute when Sarah Price landed a goal from 25 yards out after receiving a long pass from Paige Hoover. The duo hooked up again in the 78^th when Hoover's service to the far post from the left wing found Price in stride. Troy took nine shots in the contest to Georgia Sothern's five.

The Trojans now look to 2018 when they must replace seniors Haley Roberson and Mikki Lewis.
