Women’s Golf Battles Tough Conditions at Palmetto Intercollegiate

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Eva Fabricius-Bjerre carded four birdies en route to shooting a 2-over 74 to lead Troy on day two of the Palmetto Intercollegiate at the Turtle Point Golf Course. Troy shot 23-over in Monday's round and is in 14th place heading into Tuesday's final round.
Fabricius-Bjerre was 4-over after a double-bogey on the par-3 13th, but picked up birdies on two of her next four holes to shoot the second-best round of her young Troy career. She improved on her opening round card by 11 shots and spiked 19 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 64th place.
Teams battled high winds and heavy rain throughout the day on Monday as they did during Sunday's opening round.
Sarah Harrison is Troy's leader after 36 holes as she is tied for 41st place at 10-over. She moved up five sports from the opening round after shooting 4-over on the day with a trio of birdies. Lindsey Harrison birdied two of her first five holes and made the turn even, but hit a rough patch over four holes on the back nine and shot 7-over to sit in a tie for 48th place overall.
Antonia Poate fell into a tie for 68th place after shooting 10-over on the day, while Bianca Lohbauer slipped into a tie for 80th place after shooting 16-over on Monday.
Kennesaw State moved past Ole Miss to grab a one-shot lead over the Rebels after 36 holes, while Marshall, Old Dominion and No. 48 Campbell round out the top five. Troy is just four shots off a top-10 finish and just 14 shots back of Kansas for seventh.
Teams will once again play a shotgun start on Tuesday; Troy will play alongside Mercer and East Tennessee State beginning on the 13th hole at 8 a.m. (CT).
