Women’s Golf Solid on Day One at Kiawah

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Lindsey Harrison fired a 4-over 76 to pace the Troy women's golf team in Sunday's rainy opening round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate at the Turtle Point Golf Course. Troy sits in 10th place in the 17-team field, but finds itself within striking distance of a top five finish.
Harrison had just one birdie on the day, but played a relatively clean round with three bogeys and a double-bogey for her second straight round within four strokes of par; she is tied for 23rd place overall.
Bianca Lohbauer is close behind in a tie for 33rd place after a pair of birdies and a 5-over 77, while Antonia Poate led the Trojans with three birdies on the day en route to shooting a 78, good for a tie for 46th place. Sarah Harrison also carded a 6-over 78 on the day with one birdie in her round to sit tied with Poate, while Eva Fabricius-Bjerre rounded out the field for the Trojans tied for 83rd at 13-over par.
The Trojans were one of the steadiest teams on the course in the opening round as they carded 53 collective pars, which was tied for the fourth most in the field.
Ole Miss shot a 2-over 290 to grab the team lead, while Old Dominion (295), Marshall (297), Kennesaw State (300) and College of Charleston (302) round out the top five. Troy is just three shots behind No. 48 Campbell and just seven shots out of the top five.
Teams will play a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. (CT) Monday morning for the second round. Tee times were adjusted due to the threat of inclement weather in the area.
