Troy Volleyball Set for Pair of Sun Belt Matches

TROY, Alabama – The Troy volleyball team (8-15, 2-6 SBC) prepares for two big Sun Belt Conference matchups this weekend against Arkansas State (13-9, 6-3 SBC) and Little Rock (7-14, 3-6 SBC). Both matches will be at the Trojan Arena and first serves are set for 6:30 p.m.

Troy enters the weekend coming off a big 3-0 sweep over Alabama State in a midweek non-conference match. Prior to their Tuesday night victory, the Trojans split the weekend against Georgia Southern and Georgia State. Troy fell to the Eagles, but earned its second win of the season against Georgia State in a five-set decision.

ABOUT ARKANSAS STATE
Arkansas State travels to Troy with a 13-9 overall record and 6-3 in the conference riding a three-match win streak. The Red wolves are led by junior outside hitter Carlisa May with an impressive 308 kills (3.08 kills/set) on the season. She has also added 62 digs and 31 total blocks. Defensively, freshman Tatum Ticknor has made a huge impact with 421 digs for Arkansas State this year.

ABOUT LITTLE ROCK
Little Rock will travel to Troy after a Friday night matchup against South Alabama. The Trojans are 7-14 overall and 3-6 in the conference. Marina Avram leads the squad with 245 kills (2.95 kills/set) while Sydnee Martin has recorded 377 digs and Veronica Marin has posted a team-high 98 blocks up front.

NOTEWORTHY

Troy looks to snap a five-match losing streak against the Red Wolves. The Trojans are just 1-15 overall against Arkansas State.
Troy is just 3-12 against Little Rock. The teams' last meeting was in 2016 as Troy traveled to Little Rock and fell 3-1.
Sophomore Belle Waldrop leads the Trojans with 204 kills (2.40 kills/set), while Savannah Moore leads with 239.5 points with 187 kills and 71 total blocks.
Jenni Young has posted above a .200 hitting percentage in six of her last eight matches.
Troy leads its opponents in kills (1078-936), assists (1006-843), aces (119-99) and digs (1005-990)
Troy is now 3-1 in five set matches
Kiara Barrett has posted four double-doubles on the year. Most recently she recorded 31 assists and 10 digs in Troy's five-set win over Georgia State.
