Volleyball Travels to Georgia for a Pair of Sun Belt Matches

TROY, Alabama- Troy (6-14, 1-5 SBC) travels to Georgia for two Sun Belt Conference matchups against Georgia Southern (6-11, 2-4 SBC) and Georgia State (8-11, 2-4 SBC). The Trojans will take on the Eagles on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., and cap the weekend against the Panthers on Friday at 5 p.m.

Troy is coming off two tough losses against in-state foe South Alabama. Troy traveled to Mobile for a midweek game where the Jags bested the Trojans 3-0. Troy put up a hard fight as the hosted South on Saturday, but ultimately fell 3-1.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Troy fell 3-0 to Georgia Southern in the teams' last meeting this season. The Eagles are led by senior Cathrine Murray who has recorded 157 kills (2.66 kills/set) and 131 digs for Georgia Southern. The Eagles enter the match coming off a non-conference 3-1 win over Savannah State.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Troy defeated the Panthers in the Trojan Arena in a thrilling five-setter earlier in the season. Georgia State comes in at 8-11 overall and 2-4 in Sun Belt play. Junior Crystal Lee paces the Panthers with 197 kills (2.70 kills/set). Sophomore Celeste Friesen was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week after recording 71 digs (7.10 digs/set) in two matches last weekend.

NOTEWORTHY

Troy's 104 aces rank third in the conference. Kiara Barrett ranks fourth in the conference with 24 aces while Cheyenne Hayes is tied for seventh with 22.
Troy leads its opponents in kills (921-809), assists (858-724), aces (104-89), and digs (851-848).
Troy is 2-8 all-time against the Eagles and 12-16 all-time against the Panthers.
Sophomore Belle Waldrop paces Troy with 180 kills (2.47 kills/set) on the season. She has also added 22 blocks and 26 digs for the Trojans.
Logan Page, Savannah Moore and Cheyenne Hayes have started every match for the Trojans this year and have also played in all 73 sets.

The Trojans will return home to host a midweek non-conference matchup against Alabama State on Tuesday, October 17 at 6:30 p.m., in the Trojan Arena. Admission to all Troy volleyball matches is free.
