Sun Belt Play Continues With Trip To Georgia State

ATLANTA, Georgia – The weekend in Georgia continues with a matchup in Atlanta against Georgia State Monday night at 6 p.m. The game will have a video broadcast on ESPN3.com and will have a radio call by Jerry Miller and Barry McKnight on TroyTrojans.com.

The Trojans are looking to earn the first conference win of the season after two road losses to start Sun Belt play. Troy led 75-70 with 1:57 to play against South Alabama on Jan. 2, but the Jaguars eventually forced three turnovers in the final two minutes to come back to win 76-75.

On Saturday, Georgia Southern scored the most points against Troy this season in handing Troy a 86-82 loss. Â Ike Smith, the conference-leader at 19.5 points per game, was held to a modest 13 points in the win. However, it was Tookie Brown who gave Troy headaches by pouring in 24 points on the night.

In the loss, Juan Davis, Jr. had a coming out party. The forward exploded for a career-high 21 points on a career-high five 3-pointers. His previous bests were 17 points in the season opener and two 3-pointers. He also set career-highs in minutes at 26 and field goals with six.

Georgia State has gotten off to an 8-6 start and has split the first two games of Sun Belt play. The Panthers fell 88-65 on the road against Georgia Southern in the conference opener and then rallied for a 78-77 win against South Alabama on Saturday.
