Troy Kicks Off Season In Florida State Invitational

TALLAHASSEE, Florida – The Troy men's tennis team will kick off 2017 dual match season with a spot in the Florida State Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in Tallahassee, Florida. Â
Joining Troy will be Florida Atlantic, South Alabama, Mercer, Florida A&M, Louisiana, Georgia State and host Florida State. Â Admission to the tournament will be free.
Â
Each team is guaranteed to play three matches. The two teams with the highest record after Saturday will play in the championship round on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. The third place match will also be at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday and all other finishes will be decided at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
NOTEWORTHY
•  The Trojans went 15-14 during the dual season last year. Troy was 6-1 on neutral sites and 4-2 at home but just 3-11 in true away matches.

• Of the 29 matches last season, 12 were against teams ranked in the ITA Top-75. The highest-ranked competition the Trojans faced was an away match at No. 2 Oklahoma.

• Troy will have a strong group of seniors this season in Andre Baldo, Pablo Moreno and Hassan Ndayishimiye. Moreno garnered All-Sun Belt Doubles First Team and Singles Second Team honors in the 2016 season.
