Troy Tennis Set for Sun Belt Championships

TROY, Alabama – The brackets have been released for this week's Sun Belt Tennis Championships with the Troy men's team earning the No. 3 seed and the Troy women's team earning the No. 5 seed. Both teams will play their first match on Friday at the City Park/Pepsi Tennis Center in New Orleans.
The Troy men, the tournament's defending champions, are the No. 3 seed and will open their tournament at 3 p.m. on Friday against No. 6 seed Appalachian State.
The winner will move onto Saturday's semifinal to take on the winner of No. 2 South Alabama and No. 7 Georgia Southern. The seven-team, single-elimination men's tournament concludes with Sunday's 2 p.m. championship match.
Troy (15-13, 1-3) and Appalachian State (13-6, 1-0) did not play this regular season.
The women are the No. 5 seed and will open their tournament at 8 a.m. on Friday against No. 4 seed Georgia Southern.
The winner will move onto Saturday's semifinal to face the winner of No. 1 seed Georgia State and its quarterfinal opponent, which will be either No. 8 ULM or No. 9 Appalachian State who play a first round match on Thursday. The 10-team, single-elimination women's tournament concludes with Sunday's 10 a.m. championship match.
Troy (11-8, 2-3) and Georgia Southern (12-8, 2-3) played just two weeks ago on April 9 with the Eagles winning a very tight, 4-3, match.
The winner of each tournament will earn the Sun Belt's automatic berth into the NCAA Championships, which begin on May 13 at campus sites.
