Troy Women’s Tennis Rebounds to Beat UT Martin

AUBURN, Alabama – After a loss to a ranked team yesterday, the Troy women's tennis rebounded with a 5-2 win over UT Martin on a neutral court at the Yarbrough Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Troy (4-2) fell behind early with losses at No. 2 and No. 1 doubles, respectively, but dominated in singles play to grab their fourth win.
Nancy Karaky got things started with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Jermima Potter at No. 5 singles. Luisa Ferrauit then cruised in straight set at No. 6, 6-4, 6-2, to put the Trojans up 2-1.
Sanae Ohta beat Burcu Tari, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3 singles to put the Trojans on the brink of the win. UT Martin (0-4) stayed alive with a win at No. 2 singles, but Efriliya Herlina gave Troy the win after a 7-5, 6-3 decision at No. 5.
Jiayuan Xue capped off the scoring with a 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7) win at No. 1 singles.
The Trojans return to the court on Friday and Saturday when they travel to take on Winthrop and South Carolina State, respectively.
