TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's tennis team will host its home opener on Wednesday when Alabama State visits the Lunsford Tennis Complex for a 1 p.m. match.
Â
Troy (4-2) had a pair of matches at Winthrop and South Carolina State postponed last week and haven't played since a February 7 win against UT Martin in Auburn, Ala. Troy has also beaten Stetson, FIU and Florida Atlantic this season.
Â
The Trojans are led in dual matches by a trio of Trojans that are all 4-2 in singles play this season. Sanae Ohta, Efriliya Herlina and Nancy Karaky are all 4-2 at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, in Troy's singles lineup.
Â
Alabama State (3-4) played three matches at home last weekend, falling to Georgia Southern on Friday and Jacksonville State on Sunday, sandwiched around a win over Kennesaw State on Saturday. The Hornets have also beaten Savannah State and Alabama A&M this season.
Â
Wednesday's match will be the first away from home for Alabama State.
Â
It will also mark the first of three straight home matches for Troy who will host North Florida on Sunday and UAB next Saturday, February 27.
