MONROE, Louisiana – The Troy volleyball team defeated ULM in three sets (25-16, 25-21, 26-24) on Sunday afternoon at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. It was the first time the Trojans had defeated a team in three sets since September 2, when they defeated Southern, 3-0.

Troy (9-22, 3-11 Sun Belt) went on a 6-0 run midway through the first set and a 7-0 run midway through the second set that lead to a 2-0 lead over ULM (9-22, 3-10 Sun Belt) after two sets.

The third set saw 10 ties and three lead changes, but a late Troy run sealed the deal for the Trojans, 26-24.

QUOTABLE
"I'm really proud of our entire team for their efforts today," Sonny Kirkpatrick said. "They worked extremely hard and it was good to see their hard work paying off with the results that we want."

TURNING POINT
After falling behind 23-21 in the third set, Troy tied the set with a kill by Lauren Long and Reina Terry. The Warhawks took a 24-23 lead on a Trojan attack error. Logan Page tied the game with a kill and Avalon Nero gave Troy a 25-24 advantage with a service ace. Belle Waldrop put the nail in the coffin with a kill and capped off the victory on a 5-1 run.

STAT OF THE MATCH
The Trojans had 14 more kills than the Warhawks and totaled 46 for the match. Troy also recorded a .246 hitting percentage, which the best Troy has hit in a Sun Belt match this season.

NOTEWORTHY
•   The 3-0 victory was the first 3-0 victory on the road since 2014, when the Trojans defeated Alabama State in Montgomery.

• Troy went into the locker room with a 2-0 lead after the second set. It was the first time the Trojans held a 2-0 lead since September 10, in a 3-1 win over Chicago State.

•   Belle Waldrop had her second consecutive double-digit kill match as she had 11 on the day, which led the team.

•   Leah Causey picked up 10 kills and had a team-high .500 hitting percentage.

Troy concludes the regular season on Friday and Sunday as they travel to Coastal Carolina on Friday at 5 p.m., CT and Appalachian State on Sunday at 11:30 a.m., CT.
