Troy Volleyball Falls to Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, South Carolina - The Troy volleyball team fell to Sun Belt East Division leader, Coastal Carolina, in three sets (25-18, 25-7, 25-12) on Friday night.
Troy (9-23, 3-12 Sun Belt) kept it close in the first set and hit .191 as a team with 14 kills. The Trojans fell victim to a 10-3 run, trailing 15-14 in the first set and lost 25-18.
Coastal Carolina (23-4, 14-1 Sun Belt) hit .571 in the second set and won 25-7. The Chanticleers took an early 10-4 lead, and never lost the lead en route to a 25-12 match clinching victory.
TURNING POINT
The Chanticleers broke open a 14-3 run to begin the second set. Following a Troy point off a Coastal Carolina service error, the Chanticleers scored seven straight points and never turned back to take the second set 25-7.
STAT OF THE MATCH
The Trojans picked up 14 kills in the first set, but only combined for nine in the second and third sets. Troy had three kills in the second set and six in the third set.
NOTEWORTHY
• Lauren Long recorded seven kills in the match. Her seven kills led the team.
• Reina Terry recorded 10 assists on the night.
• Lauren Long and Bethany Cullity had each of the Trojans service aces.

Troy will conclude the regular season in Boone, N.C., with an 11:30 a.m. CT matchup with Appalachian State.
