Troy, Cano Lead After Two Rounds of Idle Hour Collegiate Championship

MACON, Georgia – Paced by individual leader Fátima Fernández Cano, the Troy women's golf team leads the Idle Hour Collegiate Championship after Monday's opening two rounds at the Idle Hour Golf Club.
 
Cano shot a 2-under 142 over the opening 36 holes thanks to five birdies and an eagle. She opened the day with a 1-over 73 before rebounding with a 3-under 69 on her second trip through the course. Cano had four of her birdies and the eagle during the second round. She birdied No. 15 and No. 18 and dropped a three on the par-5 17th to go from 1-over to 3-under in a matter of four holes.
 
The Trojans were tied for sixth place following the opening round after shooting 16-over as a team, but Troy responded with a 4-over in the second round to shoot to the top of the leaderboard. Host Mercer is a shot back in second, while Southern Miss is three shots back in third.
 
Cano's lead is two shots over Southern Miss' Kelly Erasmus, while teammate Becca Horner is six shots back in a tie for seventh. Horner had an eventful second round with five birdies, nine bogeys and just five pars en route to shooting 4-over after posting a 1-over 73 in the opening round with four birdies.
 
Bianca Lohbauer and Gabi Oubre' are tied for 28th place following the opening 36 holes of play at 9-over par. Lohbauer posted an 11-shot improvement from her first to second round as she sank a pair of birdies and an eagle to post a 1-under. Oubre' had five birdies over her two rounds and shot 4-over and 5-over, respectively.
 
Rounding out the field for the Trojans was Lindsey Harrison in a tie for 56th after rounds of 83 and 79. Playing as individuals, Antonia Poate is tied for 60th and Bria Jansen is tied for 65th.
 
Troy will play for its first team title of the season with 18 more holes on Tuesday. The Trojans will be paired with Southern Miss and Mercer in the final round; the grouping will hit the course beginning at 7:45 a.m.
