TROY, Alabama – After two matches there last weekend, the Troy women's tennis team returns to Florida, this time to face two old Sun Belt foes. Troy will travel to FIU on Friday for a 1:30 p.m. CT match before taking on Florida Atlantic on Saturday at 10 a.m. CT.
Troy (1-1) opened its season last week with a 6-1 loss at UCF and a 5-2 win at Stetson. Nancy Karaky was the lone Trojan to go 2-0 in singles play, posting both of her wins from the No. 5 spot in the lineup.
The bottom of Troy's lineup played well at Stetson as the Trojans got wins from No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 against the Hatters.
FIU (1-0) opened its season with a 4-0 road win over Florida Gulf Coast last weekend. The Panthers have two ranked singles players in No. 69 Nerma Caluk and No. 114 Sandra Honigova.
Florida Atlantic (2-1) played three road matches in three days last weekend. The Owls won at Florida A&M, 5-2, then lost a 4-2 decision at Mercer before closing the trip with a 6-0 win at Savannah State.
Following the weekend's matches, the Trojans will play their home opener when Alabama State visits the Lunsford Tennis Complex on Friday, February 5.
