Darby Griff Earns Sun Belt Weekly Honor

TROY, Alabama – Troy volleyball's Darby Griff was named the Sun Belt Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Griff helped Troy to an undefeated week that included a team title at the Trojan Invitational, a tournament in which she was named MVP. On the week she posted 25 blocks in 16 sets, giving her a 1.56 blocks per set average.

The Aurora, Ohio native is now averaging 1.44 blocks per set this season, the best mark in the Sun Belt. The senior has led Troy to 2.89 blocks per set as a team, also the best mark in the Sun Belt.

Griff also posted a .458 attack percentage last week and helped Troy to wins over UAB, CSU Bakersfield, Alabama State and ETSU. CSU Bakersfield and Alabama State both played in the NCAA Tournament last season.

The weekly award is the first of Griff's career and the first for a Trojan this season. It is the 16^th player of the week award for the Troy program since moving to the Sun Belt in 2005.
