Women’s Golf Moves Into Lead Following Day Two at Chris Banister

GLENCOE, Alabama – The Troy women's golf team shot up the leaderboard Monday at the Silver Lakes Golf Course on day two of the Chris Banister Golf Classic. The Trojans will carry a five-shot lead over Morehead State into Tuesday's final round.
Key to Troy's charge into the lead was the play of the Trojans' three juniors – Fátima Fernández Cano, Becca Horner and Gabi Oubre. Cano fired an even-par 72 on Monday to move into second place on the individual leaderboard and just two shots behind Murray State's Moa Folke for the individual title.
Horner shaved seven strokes off her opening round card to shoot a 1-over 73 on Monday and move into a tie for eighth place with Oubre, who improved her opening round score by three shots with a 3-over 75 in the second round – the pair are just one shot back of a fifth-place finish.
Host Jacksonville State is six shots back of Troy, while Murray State is seven shots back in fourth with UAB and Southern Miss tied for fifth and 12 shots back. Troy and Cano are the defending team and individual champions, respectively, in the event.
Bianca Lohbauer moved up into a tie for 35th place after shooting an 8-over, while Kalyn Hudson is one shot back in a tie for 38th following an 82 on Monday. Bria Jansen and Lindsey Harrison are also separated by one shot in a tie for 58th and 60th, respectively, while Abby Parks and Antonia Poate are one shot apart in 63rd and 64th, respectively.
Troy will be in the final pairing tomorrow and tee times get underway at 8 a.m.
