LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – The Troy volleyball team opened a weekend road trip at Little Rock and fell to the defending Sun Belt champion in three sets, 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-17), at the Jack Stephens Center on Friday night.
Troy (5-10, 0-3) got a match-high 11 kills from Blair Winston, but hit just .010 due in large part to 13.0 total team blocks from Little Rock. Leah Causey led Troy with a .364 attack percentage, but was the only Troy player to hit over .300.
Troy had just 3.0 total team blocks in the match, but got a match-high 18 digs from Ali Dowdall on the defensive side.
Little Rock had three regulars over .300, including Edina Selimovic who hit .588 with 11 kills and just one error on 17 attempts.
The homestanding Trojans got out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first set, and Troy could never pull even in a set that Little Rock won 25-15. Little Rock got out to another quick start in the second set, holding a 5-1 lead early on its way to a 25-20 win.
The third set started better for Troy as it trailed by just one at 13-12, but from there Little Rock scored six straight to take a 19-12 lead. Troy committed three errors during that stretch and finished the third set with a match-low -.108 attack percentage.
Troy returns to the court on Saturday when they continue their road trip with a match at Arkansas State. The Trojan and Red Wolves will get underway at 6 p.m. at the Convocation Center.
