Volleyball Opens Fall Practice

TROY, Alabama – The Troy volleyball team began preparations for the 2015 season on Wednesday with three practice sessions inside Trojan Arena. The Trojans are just over three weeks from their season opener, which is set for August 28 against Eastern Kentucky at the Chattanooga Classic.

The Trojans return seven student-athletes from last year's team, including five starters and four seniors. Troy returns its top two kill producers in Blair Winston (365 kills) and Symone Shaw (334 kills) from 2014. The Trojans also return their top blocker in Darby Griff (108 total blocks) and top digger in Ali Dowdall (600 digs) from 2014.

Troy's roster features nine newcomers to the program, including six true freshmen. Two of the team's three setters are true freshman, with the other being returning sophomore Reina Terry.

Following three matches at the Chattanooga Classic, the Trojans will return home to host UAB on September 1 before hosting the four-team Trojan Invitational on September 4-5.

Troy head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick is entering his 10^th season and will enjoy a schedule that features 15 home matches, the most in his tenure.
