Â
TROY, Alabama – The Troy football team worked out for just under two hours Sunday afternoon on the practice fields behind Trojan Arena. It was the second practice of fall camp for the Trojans, who will put on shoulder pads for the first time tomorrow morning when they take the field at 9:30.
Â
The Troy coaches continued to focus on the tempo of practice as they mixed high-energy drills with teaching periods to optimize their time and maximize the quality of the reps. The offense spent some of the early practice time working on ball security, while the defense focused on tackling and stripping the ball.
Â
Following individual and specialized work during the middle of practice, the team came together for 7-on-7 drills before a pair of team periods closed out the day.
Â
Season tickets for Troy's five home games, as well as tickets for away games, are available for purchase online, via telephone or in person. Season ticket prices start as low as $50 for general admission seats and $100 for reserved seats.Â

Opening statement…
A lot like flag football today. It's probably good, the NCAA makes you practice two days of just helmets and we finished up today. So, I think we will start to have some separation tomorrow, a lot of just alignment and assignment things today. We tried to stay off of each other because, what I've found through my career, is you get a lot more people hurt when you're just in helmets than when you're in full gear. We practiced at 2:30 p.m. today, we've got some 2:30 p.m. games, we were out in the heat and I think the heat index got over 100 at some point today. I thought we gave in at times. I wasn't exactly fired up about where our attitude was. I think we have some ways to grow. (We have had) a lot of people prognosticating that we're not going to have a great year, and I've talked about it a lot with our guys. You either prove them right or prove them wrong. Today, was a step in proving them right. (I) am disappointed in what our focus was, disappointed that we gave into the heat a little bit. So, when we get out here tomorrow morning in pads, we've got to be better.
Â
On the tempo…
We are going in the right direction. I think we were better on day one than on day two in the tempo portion of it. That is something we will emphasize in video and then tomorrow morning we will spend a lot of time early on in practice working on that.
Â
On recruiting…
I think recruiting is a product of everything. First though, when you talk about recruiting, we've had a tremendous effort from our staff getting out and relating to people, not only to the kids, but also to the high school coaches. I think people like (cornerbacks coach) Al Pogue and (wide receivers coach) Cornelius Williams have done a great job securing some of our top commitments. Our on campus people, the guys that don't get out, but are in charge of getting our mail out and doing some things on social media, (director of player personnel) Brian Bennett and (assistant director of player development) Trey Dunbar are doing a great job. Our sports information people are doing a really good job with our website. So, I think the whole attitude around our program, I think we're getting towards cool. I don't know if we're officially there yet, but we're working toward it. We have some youth on this staff that the guys can relate to and the last thing, probably the most important thing, is that we have a great product to sell. Troy University is a great place. We are the only school in this state that is equal to us that has an on-campus stadium. Our facility is newly renovated and we are getting ready to break ground in December on a new football only facility. There are a lot of positives within our program and I am excited. We will probably secure one or two more (commitments) before the season starts and then let it play out for guys during their senior year.
