Football Tabbed Eighth in Sun Belt Preseason Coaches Poll

TROY, Alabama – The Sun Belt Conference football head coaches voted Troy to finish eighth in the annual preseason coaches poll released by the league office Friday in advance of Sun Belt Football Media Day on Monday.

Defending champion Georgia Southern was picked to repeat as league champions as the Eagles received six of the 11 first-place votes and 110 total points. UL Lafayette received three first-place votes and 108 points, while Arkansas State received one first-place vote and 96 total points.

The remainder of the poll, in which coaches were allowed to vote for their own teams, shook out with Appalachian State in fourth place followed by Texas State, South Alabama (one first-place vote), ULM, Troy, Georgia State, New Mexico State and Idaho.

The predicted champion has won the league just once since 2010, while predicted eighth-place Georgia Southern won the league last season.
