TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's basketball program and head coach Chanda Rigby announced the signing of Casie Johnson on Wednesday. Johnson comes to Troy after playing two seasons at College of the Siskiyous in Weed, Calif.
Johnson, a 6-foot power forward, was named Golden Valley Conference Player of the Year following both of her seasons at Siskiyous, leading the Eagles to a combined 50-7 overall record and a 20-0 conference record. The Eagle Point, Ore., native was also twice named to the California Community College Athletics Association's (CCCAA) Northern California All-State team and has already had her jersey retired at Siskiyous.
"Casie Johnson is a tremendous addition to our team," Rigby said. "She possesses a unique skill set that allows her to score in numerous ways. She is a complete player who will be a great fit for our running, high-scoring system."
As a sophomore in 2014-15, Johnson finished fifth in the 89-member CCCAA in scoring at 21.5 points per game. She also posted 9.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.2 steals per game, while shooting an association-best 64.4 percent from the floor.
Led by Johnson, the Eagles topped the association in scoring in 2014-15 at 81.8 points per game and advanced to the third round of the CCCAA Northern California Regional. The Eagles improved from 2013-14 when they averaged 74.9 points per game and advanced to the second round.
In addition to Player of the Year, Johnson was also named the Golden Valley Freshman of the Year in 2013-14 when she averaged 19.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game while shooting 59.9 percent from the floor, the third best mark in the CCCAA.
A three-sport star at Siskiyous, Johnson also competed for the Eagles' volleyball and track and field teams. An outside hitter, she led the Eagles volleyball team with 244 kills and a 3.75 kills/set average in 2014. On the track, Johnson was the Golden Valley Conference Champion in the 400m hurdles and also competed in the heptathlon.
