Troy Women’s Golf Completes Day Two of NCAA Regional Play

SOUTH BEND, Indiana – The Sun Belt champion Troy women's golf team shot a 23-over-par 311 in Friday's second round of the NCAA South Bend Regional at The Warren Golf Course. The Trojans wrapped up the day in 17th place.
Senior Langley Vannoy turned in the round of the day for the Trojans as she shot even par on a course that played to an average score of 75.61 on Friday. Vannoy had a birdie on the par-3 No. 11 and the par-5 No. 17. She moved into a tie for 52nd place heading into Saturday's final round.
No. 5 Duke will carry a five shot lead over No. 33 Purdue into Saturday's final round of play. No. 13 Wake Forest, No. 4 Arizona, No. 20 UC Davis and No. 26 Tulane round out the top six following two rounds – the top six teams will move on to the NCAA Championships.
Fátima Fernández Cano quickly moved to 1-under on her day with a birdie on the par-3 12th hole and made the turn at even par. She was 1-over heading into the final two holes of the day, but a triple-bogey on No. 8 pushed her round to a 4-over 76.
Cano is tied for 70th place with Taylor McGraw after McGraw fired a 5-over 77 in Friday's second round. McGraw made the turn at 1-over par thanks to a birdie on the par-4 No. 16. She played the back nine at 4-over par as she carded a pair of birdies, a pair of bogeys and a pair of double-bogeys.
Troy's day-one leader Becca Horner ran into a difficult course and slipped from second place into a tie for 81st place after shooting an 88 on Friday.
Sydney Conrad fell to 95th place after shooting a 14-over 86 in Friday's round. She had a birdie on the par-5 second hole, but struggled the rest of the day with 11 bogeys and a pair of double-bogeys.
The Trojans will wrap up play at the South Bend Regional on Saturday beginning at 8:39 a.m. (CDT). Troy will be paired with San Jose State and Youngstown State for the final round.
