Schedule Adjusted as Troy Softball Hosts UT Arlington

TROY, Alabama – The Troy softball team returns home from a 10-game road trip to host Sun Belt opponent UT Arlington for a three-game series at the Troy Softball Complex. Saturday's doubleheader will now begin at 4 p.m. with Sunday's series finale still scheduled for noon.

Troy (29-20, 11-7 Sun Belt) posted a 7-3 record on the 10-game road trip, but dropped its final road trip game, 5-2, against No. 5 Alabama on Tuesday at Rhoads Stadium.

Jaycee Affeldt leads the Trojans pitching staff with a 2.54 ERA and 130 strikeouts in 157 innings of work, which is second most in the conference. Affeldt sits at first place in the Sun Belt with 39 appearances in the circle this year. She is fourth in the conference in strikeouts. Affeldt currently sits at third all-time in school history with 422 career strikeouts and needs just 10 more to be in sole position of second.

The Trojans have 48 home runs this season, which sets a new single-season home run record. The previous record was 46 set in 2007. Becca Hartley has 10 home runs this season, which is tops on the team. Her 10 home runs ties her for sixth place for home runs hit in a single season. Michelle Phelps and Amanda Winters have nine each this season which ties them for seventh all-time.

Hannah Day leads Troy offensively batting a team-high .318 this season with 10 doubles, two triples, five home runs and 38 RBIs. She is second on the team in stolen bases with six on seven attempts.

Ashley Rainey is batting .361 in conference play with three doubles, two triples, three home runs and eight RBIs. Rainey is slugging .806 and has drawn 14 walks when facing Sun Belt opponents.

UT Arlington (27-22, 8-10 Sun Belt) is lead by Nina Villanueva, who is batting .431 with 15 doubles, one triple and one home run with 44 RBIs. Two other players have at least 40 RBIs for the Mavericks this season. Shelbi Sikes has driven in 45 runs and Meagan Michele has knocked in 44.

The Trojans and Mavericks have met five times on the diamond, with Troy trailing the series, 4-1, all-time. The two teams split last season in Arlington, Texas in what was supposed to be a three-game conference series, but one game was canceled due to inclement weather.
