Troy Volleyball Releases 2015 Schedule

TROY, Alabama – The Troy volleyball program and head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick announced the Trojans' 2015 schedule on Thursday. The schedule features eight home Sun Belt matches, four home midweek matches and the two-day Trojan Invitational.

"I'm really excited about our 2015 schedule," Kirkpatrick, who's entering his 10^th season at Troy, said. "I think the preconference portion is very competitive and it will set us up going into Sun Belt play."

The Trojans open the season on August 28, when they travel to Chattanooga, Tenn., for a tournament that features the Trojans, Chattanooga and Valparaiso.

Troy opens its home schedule on September 1, when UAB visits Trojan Arena. Troy will then host the Trojan Invitational on September 4-5 as Alabama State, CSU-Bakersfield and ETSU join Troy for the second annual tournament.

Following midweek road matches at Southeastern Louisiana and Mercer, and a weekend tournament at Alabama (Troy, Alabama, St. Louis, Virginia), Troy will open Sun Belt play when Appalachian State visits Trojan Arena on September 18.

The Trojans will take part in a 16-game Sun Belt schedule, playing four teams once (Appalachian State, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, UT Arlington) while playing the rest of the teams in the league twice.

In addition to the home opener against UAB, Troy will also host midweek matches against Alabama A&M (Sept. 29), Florida A&M (Oct. 13) and Mississippi State (Nov. 2).

The Trojans will close their home schedule on November 8, when defending Sun Belt champion UALR visits Trojan Arena. Troy's regular season finale comes on November 13, at Georgia Southern.

The top eight teams in the conference will then return to Hanner Fieldhouse as Georgia Southern hosts the 2015 Sun Belt Championships.
