TROY, Alabama – Following a flight-trip to Texas, the Troy University baseball team will again hit the road, this time to Kennesaw, Georgia to take on Kennesaw State on Wednesday. The Trojans fell to KSU, 3-2, at Riddle-Pace Field on April 8. It was just the second loss to the Owls in program history.
First pitch is set for 5 p.m. (CT). Live audio and stats will be available on TroyTrojans.com. WTBF 94.7 FM will carry the radio broadcast.
Troy (21-20) is coming off a Sun Belt Conference series loss to UT Arlington. After taking game two of the series, 7-6, the Trojans surrendered a six-run lead to fall 10-7 in the series finale.
Kennesaw State (21-18) split a rain-shortened Atlantic Sun Conference series with Florida Gulf Coast, taking the opener 5-0 before falling in the second game 6-5. The Owls will send freshman right-hander AJ Moore to the mound. Moore is 2-1 on the season with a 4.54 ERA and will be making his seventh start of the season. Troy will counter with senior southpaw Ben Tidwell. The lefty is 0-2 on the year with a 5.46 ERA.
While consistency has avoided the Trojans offense, Logan Hill and Trevin Hall have been stable throughout the year. Hill enters the week with a .347 average, leads the club 31 RBIs and has reached base in 14 consecutive games. Hall sports a team-high .375 average and has 17 multi-hit games in 32 starts this season. Senior outfielder Clay Holcomb continues to lead the Sun Belt with 20 stolen bases despite being held in check over the weekend.
Defensively, Troy turned three double plays against UT Arlington to up the team's season total to 44, seventh-most in the NCAA.
Troy leads the all-time series against Kennesaw State 22-2 including a 4-1 mark at Fred Stillwell Stadium.
