Golfweek Names Cano National Player of the Week

TROY, Alabama – Troy sophomore Fátima Fernández Cano was named the Golfweek Women's Player of the Week for her play at the John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate (March 29-31).
Cano won the Panther Intercollegiate by seven strokes as she shot a school record 6-under 210, thanks in part to a final round 67, which was the second-lowest round in Troy history. It was her second individual title of the season after she won the Chris Banister Golf Classic back in the fall.
The week prior to her win, Cano set the Troy 18-hole scoring record when she shot 65 in the 3M Jaguar Invitational. With her record-breaking month, she earned Sun Belt Player of the Month honors for March.
Cano and the Trojans look to defend their Sun Belt Conference title when play opens at the Sun Belt Conference Championships Monday at the Steelwood Country Club in Loxley, Ala.
