Troy Travels to Georgia State to Open Conference Play

ATLANTA, Georgia – The Troy softball team will open up Sun Belt play by traveling for a three game series with Georgia State at the Bob Heck Softball Complex. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday at noon and 2 p.m. CT, with the series finale scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.

Troy (13-8), winner of eight of its last ten games, is coming off its fifth walk-off victory of the season, with a 4-3 win over Georgia Tech on Tuesday night.

The Trojans lead the Sun Belt with 33 doubles this season, which puts them one away from tying last year's total. Khadija Neely leads Troy with seven doubles. Michelle Phelps has a .371 batting average, which is best on the team, with four home runs and 20 RBIs.

Jaycee Affeldt leads the Trojans' pitching staff with 48 strikeouts this season, ranking fourth in the conference. She also has only allowed 27 earned runs over 52.1 innings of work. She is fifth in the conference in innings pitched.

Georgia State (13-2) comes into the contest with a 10-game win streak. Its only two losses have come against nationally ranked Auburn.

The Panthers are lead by Ivie Drake, two-time recipient of the Sun Belt Player of the Week award. Drake comes in hitting .532 with seven doubles, three home runs and 17 RBIs. She is slugging .872 this season.
