Troy Track Opens Outdoor Season at Jaguar Open

MOBILE, Ala. – The Troy track and field team is set to open its 2015 outdoor season at the Jaguar Opener, hosted by South Alabama, on Friday and Saturday.

The meet will be held at the Jaguar Track. Competition will commence at 3:30 p.m. on Friday with javelin, pole vault and long jump. Saturday's action will start with hammer throw and long jump at 10 a.m., while the running events will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the 110-meter hurdles.Â

Troy will be facing off against conference foe South Alabama, as well as New Orleans, Southeastern Louisiana, Tulane and Michigan's women's team.

The Trojan women are coming off a strong indoor season, with freshman standout Niata Alexander being named to the All-Sun Belt team for the women's 400-meter dash earlier in the week.

Troy returns Benjamin Martin, Myles Charley, Zach Douglas, and Corina Cox who all advanced to the NCAA East preliminaries last season. Â Â With experienced returners combined with new talent, the 2015 season should be an exciting one for the Trojans.
