Trojan Men Set to Face Texas State on Thursday Night

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Troy men's basketball team hits the road Thursday as it looks to get even with Texas State at Strahan Coliseum. Tip off between the Trojans and Bobcats is slated for 7:30 p.m.

Among teams eligible for the postseason, Troy (10-16, 5-12) sits in 10th place and enters half a game behind both Texas State (11-14, 5-11), who currently ranks ninth, and Arkansas State who faces UT Arlington at home.

Troy is coming off a 63-58 loss at Trojan Arena on Saturday against UALR, in large part to scoring a season-low 15 points in the first half. Â

Troy had three players score in double figures against UALR. Chris Bilbo paced the Trojans with 15 points while Wesley Person shot 3-of-5 on the night from 3-point range and 4-of-6 overall on his way to 14 points. Musa Abdul-Aleem added 11, five from the free throw line. Kevin Thomas and John Walton III each chipped in seven points, while Thomas grabbed a team-high 10 boards.

Person currently is the ranked third amongst freshmen in the nation in 3-pointers per game (2.6), 48th overall. He ranks fifth in the freshmen ranks in 3-point percentage, shooting 37.9 percent from long range (69-of-182). Person ranks 59th in the NCAA with 69 treys on the year.

Thomas currently owns the eighth and ninth best marks in Troy's Division I history in rebounds in the season, with 215 Â last season and 213 with three games remaining this season,

Texas State returns to the confines of Strahan Coliseum looking to snap a four-game losing streak. Its most recent loss came on the road against UL Lafayette, 64-42.

At the Cajundome, the Bobcats failed to make a 3-pointer as they went 17-of-53 from the floor (32.1 percent). In the loss, Cameron Naylor paced Texas State with 14 points while Wes Davis added 10. Emani Gant, who leads the Bobcats on the boards and from the floor on the season, reeled in a team-high eight rebounds.

The Trojans and Bobcats met for the first game of the season on December 30, at Trojan Arena. Troy fell to Texas State, 57-46. In the loss, the Trojans worked their way out of a 14-point hole, but was unable to claim the final lead. In the game, Abdul-Aleem paced the Trojans with 20 points on the night. Walton and Aaron Ariri both tallied a team-high five rebounds. Ford came off the bench to chip in eight points while swiping five steals.
