Trojans Continue Homestand Searching For Valentine’s Day Win

TROY, Alabama – The Troy men's basketball team continues its homestand Saturday as it welcomes UL Lafayette to Trojan Arena. Tip off between the Trojans and Ragin' Cajuns is slated for 4:15 p.m.

Troy (9-14, 4-10) is looking to snap a two-game losing streak. In its last outing, all five starters scored in double figures but is wasn't enough as Troy fell to in-state rival South Alabama, 71-67, at Trojan Arena on Thursday night.
In the loss, Kevin Thomas earned his ninth double-double of the season, the13th of his career, as he tallied 11 points while reeling in a game-high 13 rebounds, six on the offensive end of the court. Meanwhile, John Walton III earned his third career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Kelton Ford poured in a game-high 17 points, in large part thanks to his 3-of-5 showing from long range.
Wesley Person added 14 points for the Trojans, the freshman's 20th game in double-figures. Musa Abdul-Aleem chipped in 11 points for Troy.
UL Lafayette (13-12, 7-7) is also looking to snap a two-game losing streak. On Thursday, the Ragin' Cajuns fell the ULM at Fant-Ewing Colisem, 67-55. Despite holding a seven-point lead in the second half, the Cajuns lost as the Warhawks closed out the game on a 24-7 run.

Person paced Troy with a then-career-high 28 points. His career-night consisted of a 9-of-15 mark from the floor, including 3-of-7 from downtown. The freshman was also 7-of-9 from the charity stripe. Chris Bilbo, who tallied a game-high four assists, was the only other Trojan to reach double figures as he shot 4-of-7 on his way to 10 points.
This marks the 17th meeting in the series between Troy and UL Lafayette. Troy trails in the series, 11-5. In Troy, the Trojans trail, 4-2. The Trojans are looking to snap a four-game losing streak to the Ragin' Cajuns, with Troy's last win coming on February 2, 2013.
Troy hits the road Thursday as it faces Georgia Southern at Hanner Fieldhouse. Tip between the Eagles and the Trojans is set for 6:30 CT.
