TROY, Alabama – The new state-of-the-art Troy University Golf Clubhouse was dedicated in a special ceremony Saturday morning. The building completes the renovation of the Troy golf facility that also features a new 35-acre multi-use practice course.
"Truly a special day for this institution, the athletics department, the golf programs, but most importantly our student-athletes," Troy Athletics Director Jeremy McClain said. "One of the most impressive aspects of Troy's campus are the facilities and this facility is just another notch in our belt of excellence in that regard, and will be the envy of programs around the country."
The 4,400-square foot Troy Golf Clubhouse features men's and women's locker rooms, coaches' locker room, three coach offices, team lounge, two indoor hitting bays, large indoor bay for full shots and putting.
The hitting bays feature FlightScope technology for swing analysis, Sam PuttLab for putting analysis and BodiTrak Monitor to measure a player's weight at address and during the swing.
The practice facility features six mini verde greens that can be played from multiple tees, in addition to three practice tees – two for short game and one for longer shots.
"This is a long time coming and a great day to be a Trojan golfer past, present and future," men's golf head coach Matt Terry said. "I want to thank all of the donors for their generosity and belief in these players."
The Troy men's team is coming off an appearance in the NCAA New Haven Regional last season, while the Troy women's team has won back-to-back Sun Belt Conference titles and made a pair of consecutive NCAA Regional appearances.
