Troy Draws Appalachian State at Sun Belt Championships

TROY, Alabama – The Troy volleyball team has earned the No. 7 seed in next week's Sun Belt Championships, the conference office announced on Sunday. The Trojans will open the tournament against No. 2 Appalachian State at 11 a.m. CT on Friday.

Georgia Southern is hosting the tournament at Hanner Fieldhouse in Statesboro, Ga. All six matches of the eight-team, single-elimination tournament will be aired on ESPN3.

Troy (14-17, 7-9) lost its final match of the regular season on Friday, falling in four sets at Georgia Southern. Appalachian State (20-7, 13-3) was undefeated in league play just two weeks ago, but lost its final three matches, including two to undefeated, regular-season champion Arkansas State.

The Trojans and Mountaineers played just one time this season. That meeting came all the way back on September 18 in the first Sun Belt match of the season for both teams. Troy won the first two sets, but App State came back for a five-set win in Trojan Arena.
