Â
Troy (13-15) will be playing its third match in four days on Monday after weekend losses at UT Arlington and Texas State in Sun Belt play. The Trojans will be happy to return home where they are 10-3 this season. Troy is looking to win 11 home matches for the first time in its Division I history.
Â
Blair Winston combined for 29 kills in those two matches and leads the Trojans' offense on the season at 3.08 kills per set.
Â
Defensively, the Trojans are allowing opponents to hit .174, the fourth best mark in the Sun Belt. Ali Dowdall leads the Trojans, and the Sun Belt, with 520 digs to anchor the Troy backline. Up front, Darby Griff also leads the Sun Belt with 106 total blocks.
Â
Mississippi State (13-10) is 10-3 in non-conference play this season with the losses coming to Southern Utah, Notre Dame and No. 1 Penn State. The Bulldogs are 3-7 in the SEC and have lost their last four matches.
Â
The Bulldogs enter Monday's match having not played in a week since a five-set loss at home against Tennessee last Sunday.
Â
Troy is 2-6 all-time against Mississippi State, but the two sides haven't played since 2008. This will be just the third time the Bulldogs have visited Troy, and the first since 1995.
Â
Mississippi State will be the first SEC team to visit Trojan Arena and the first to come to Troy since Auburn came to Sartain Hall in 2012.
Â
Following Monday's match, Troy will have two regular-season contests remaining, both in Sun Belt play. Troy will host Little Rock next Sunday then close the regular season at Georgia Southern on November 13.
