Troy Falls at UT Arlington in Five Sets

ARLINGTON, Texas – For the third straight match, the Troy volleyball team won the first set, but this time fell in five sets at UT Arlington, 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-19, 15-12), at the College Park Center on Friday night.

Troy (13-14, 6-7) held a lead after the third set, but the Mavericks won the fourth and fifth sets to extend their lead over Troy in the Sun Belt standings, which was half a game entering the match.

Blair Winston led the Trojans with 21 kills on the night and hit .333 with a team-high-tying four blocks. Leah Causey was also in double figures with 10 kills for the Trojans.

Troy hit. 145 as a team while UT Arlington (16-8, 7-5) hit .186 as a team. The Mavericks also posted 14.0 total team blocks in the match.

Ali Dowdall led the Trojans with 18 digs, leading four Trojans in double figures. Reina Terry posted a double-double with 43 assists and 12 digs. Jordyn Saulsberry and Avalon Nero posted 10 digs, each.

Troy held the Mavericks under a .200 attack percentage in the first three sets, but UT Arlington hit .258 and .316 in the fourth and fifth sets.
Â
Troy returns to the court on Saturday night when it travels to Texas State for a 6:30 p.m. match. The Trojans then return home for a Monday match against Mississippi State.
