Troy Volleyball Continues Busy Stretch in Texas

TROY, Alabama – The Troy volleyball team continues a stretch of four matches in six days with a pair of road Sun Belt contests at UT Arlington and Texas State this weekend. The Trojans play at UT Arlington on Friday and at Texas State on Saturday with both matches scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.

Troy (13-13, 6-6) is coming off of a four-set loss at South Alabama on Tuesday. That was the first match in a stretch of four in six days that ends on Monday when Mississippi State visits Trojan Arena.

Blair Winston led the Trojans with 17 kills against South Alabama and now has a team-high 298 with a 3.04 kills per set average.
Â
Defensively, Ali Dowdall's 486 digs lead the Trojans and the Sun Belt Conference while Darby Griff has a team-high and Sun Belt best 102 total blocks. The pair has helped Troy hold opponents to a .171 attack percentage, the third best mark in the Sun Belt.

The Trojans sit in sixth place in the Sun Belt standings and have lost their last two matches, but prior to that had an eight-match winning streak. Following this weekend, the Trojans will have just Sun Belt matches remaining as they look to clinch a place in the eight-team Sun Belt Championships.

UT Arlington (15-8, 6-5) sits just half a game ahead of Troy in the Sun Belt standings thanks to road wins at Georgia State and Georgia Southern last weekend.

Texas State (13-11, 8-3) is coming off of a five-set loss at South Alabama last Saturday. Prior to that, the Bobcats visited Trojan Arena where they defeated Troy in four sets.

Troy trails the all-time series against UT Arlington, 1-4, with four of the five matches going to five sets. With the loss last week, Troy is now 0-6 all-time against Texas State.
