Â
TROY, Alabama – The Troy volleyball team returns to Trojan Arena on Thursday and could break plenty of records when Texas State visits for a pivotal Sun Belt match at 6 p.m. Troy will be looking for its ninth consecutive victory, and will be hoping to do so in a matchup between the third and fourth place teams in the Sun Belt.

Â
Troy (13-11, 6-4) has won eight straight matches, and a ninth would tie the program's Division I-era record winning streak, which has stood since 1994. Most recently in their winning streak, the Trojans traveled to Louisiana and won road matches at ULM and UL Lafayette last Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Â
In addition to their current eight-match winning streak overall, the Trojans have also won six consecutive matches at Trojan Arena, where they are 10-2 this season. A win on Thursday would break two more Division I-era records, as it would be Troy's seventh straight at home and 11th at home this season.
Â
Individually, senior Darby Griff is also nearing a Troy record. Griff leads the Trojans, and the Sun Belt Conference, with 98 total blocks this season. She is two blocks away from 304 in her career, a mark that would break the Troy Division I-era career blocks record. Two more blocks would also make Griff just the second Trojan in the last 20 years to have back-to-back 100-block seasons.
Â
Griff is a big reason why Troy is holding teams to a .165 attack percentage, the second best mark in the Sun Belt. Ali Dowdall is also a large part of that effort as her 456 digs are the most in the Sun Belt.
Â
Offensively, Blair Winston leads the Trojans with 273 kills and 3.03 kills per set. She is coming off of a 17-kill performance at UL Lafayette and has posted double figure kills in five matches during Troy's winning streak.
Â
Texas State (12-10, 7-2) sits in third place in the Sun Belt standings, just ahead of Troy, who could close the gap to half a game with a win on Thursday. The Bobcats are coming off of a five-set loss at Sun Belt leader Arkansas State last Saturday. In fact, their only two league losses have come at Arkansas State and Appalachian State who are a combined 18-0 in Sun Belt play.
Â
Troy is 0-5 all-time against Texas State, including a 0-4 mark since the Bobcats joined the Sun Belt in 2013. Last season's match in Troy went to the five sets with Texas State winning the fourth and fifth sets.
