Trojans Hit the Court for ESPN3

TROY, Alabama – The Troy men's hoops team returns to the court Thursday night to face ULM in an ESPN3 aired contest. Tipoff between the Trojans and Warhawks is set for 7:30 p.m. at Trojan Arena.

At halftime of the game, Troy Athletics will recognize over 200 student-athletes that earned 3.0 GPAs in the fall semester, including 41 that earned perfect 4.0 GPAs.

The game can viewed on ESPN3, with play-by-play by Matt Stewart and color commentary by Bob Donewald. The matchup can also be heard on the Troy Sports Radio Networks with Barry McKnight and Jerry Miller. Live stats will also be available through TroyStats.com. Troy (7-11, 2-7) is looking to break a three-game losing streak. The Trojans last seven games have been decided by an average by 6.4 points. In its last outing, Troy fell to Arkansas State at Trojan Arena, 64-55.

In the loss, Kevin Thomas led the Trojans with his 10th career double-double, his sixth of the season, as he paced the Trojans with 20 points while reeling in a team-high 11 boards, nine of which came on the offensive glass. Wesley Person sunk four treys, all in the second half, as he shot 4-of-8 from beyond the arc after the break, on his way to 14 points.

In Sun Belt play, Person and Musa Abdul-Aleem are the top producing duo from long range. Person tallies the most trey's per game, 3.0, while Abdul-Aleem averages 2.8 buckets from long range. In 3-point field goal percentage, both are shooting better than 40 percent.

Across the nation, Person ranks third amongst freshmen, averaging 2.8 3-pointer per contest. He also ranks in the top 10 in points per game, as he averages 14.7.

ULM (12-8, 6-3) is looking to bounce back after two straight losses at home. Prior to their losses at home, the Warhawks were on a six-game win streak and atop the Sun Belt standings. Coming into Trojan Arena, ULM ranks 12th in the NCAA, as it is holding its opponents to 37.6 percent from beyond the arc.

The Trojans and Warhawks met just two weeks ago at Fant-Ewing Colsieum, where ULM escaped with a 63-54 win over Troy. Person led the Trojans as he shot 3-of-5 from downtown on his way to 13 points. Kevin Thomas and Kelton Ford chipped in double figure points with 12 and 11, respectively.
