Men’s Hoops Hits the Road for Thursday Game at ULM

MONROE, Louisiana – The Troy men's basketball team heads to Monroe, La., on Thursday night as it will face ULM at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. Tip off between the Trojans and Warhawks is slated for 7 p.m.

Troy (6-7, 1-3) is coming off a 77-72 loss at Georgia State. In the loss, Musa Abdul-Aleem paced the Trojans with a career-high 33 points as he shot 56.3 percent (9-of-16) from the floor, including 7-of-11 from 3-point range. Wesley Person shot 50 percent from the floor on his way to 17 points, in large part to his 5-of-9 showing from downtown. Kelton Ford also tallied double-figures as he chipped in 10 points. In the nation, Person currently leads all freshmen as he is averaging 2.9 3-pointers per game.
In conference play, Person and Abdul-Aleem currently rank third and fourth, respectively, in points per game. Person is averaging 20.5 and Abdul-Aleem is tallying 20.3. Person also ranks first in 3-pointers per game, as he is averaging 3.8 per contest. Abdul-Aleem leads the conference in free throw percentage, as he is shooting a perfect 17-of-17 from the charity stripe.
ULM (9-6, 3-1) is currently on a three-game win streak after a 62-59 road win at Texas State. In a game in which the Warhawks never trailed, ULM jumped out to a 10-point halftime lead and then held off a hot-shooting Texas State squad.
Senior Marvin Williams, who earned Sun Belt Player of the Week honors on Monday, led the Warhawks in scoring for the third straight game with 18 points. He was a perfect 9-of-9 from the field and also grabbed six rebounds.
Troy currently owns a 9-3 advantage over ULM. In their last matchup, the Trojans escaped Monroe with a 61-46 win.
