Troy Soccer Streak Ends at South Alabama

MOBILE, Alabama – The Troy University soccer team fell to South Alabama 2-1 at The Cage on Friday ending the team's eight-game winning streak.

South Alabama scored a pair of goals early due to Troy defensive miscues. In the 4th minute, Rio Hardy took advantage of a bad pass back to the goalkeeper and scored her sixth goal of the year.

Four minutes later, Sophie Haywood scored her sixth of the year on a one-time volley off a free kick.

"Our mistakes hurt us, we gave up two goals on mistakes we shouldn't have made," head coach Jason Hamilton said. "I thought we played good soccer at times. We'll learn from our mistakes and continue to work and get better."

Troy got on the board with a goal in the 83rd minute from Georgia Wallis. It was the first goal of senior's career.

The loss is just the second to South Alabama in the last six meetings between the schools.

The Trojans will return home to face UL Lafayette at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Troy Soccer Complex.
