Troy Hosts Unbeaten Appalachian State on Sunday

TROY, Alabama – For the second time this week, the Troy volleyball team will host a Sun Belt newcomer when unbeaten Appalachian State visits Trojan Arena for a 12 p.m. match on Sunday.

Troy (9-5, 1-1) is coming off of a five-set loss at UT Arlington on Friday. Blair Winston led the Trojans with 20 kills in the match while Ali Dowdall had a match-high 25 digs. Prior to that match, the Trojans opened Sun Belt play with a four-set win over Georgia Southern at home on Wednesday.

The Trojans are led this season by Winston's 3.22 kills/set average. Tineille Waggoner is averaging 9.41 assists/set for a Troy team that is hitting .215 on the season. Defensively, the Trojans are holding opponents to a .190 attack percentage with Dowdall leading the way at 3.92 digs/set.

The Trojans enter Sunday's match 5-0 at home this season, and just one win away from tying the Troy Division I era record of six straight home victories.

Appalachian State (12-0, 2-0) is coming off of a sweep at Georgia Southern on Friday.  The Mountaineers became the first team in Sun Belt history to go undefeated in non-conference play and they are currently receiving votes in the AVCA Division I Top-25 Poll.
