Zelenovic Named Preseason All-Sun Belt

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Troy volleyball senior Marija Zelenovic was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt volleyball team as announced by the league office on Monday.

Zelenovic, a 6-foot-3 outside hitter/right side, was one of eight selections for the all-conference team. The Novi Sad, Serbia, native enters her second season with the Trojans in 2014 and will be one of four seniors on the team.

She was a member of the Sun Belt Championships All-Tournament team a year ago after leading Troy to its quarterfinal upset of conference champion WKU. In Troy's two matches at the tournament, Zelenovic posted 36 kills, 19 digs, 7.0 total blocks and five service aces.

Overall on the season, Zelenovic posted 454 kills, the third most in a single-season in Troy's history. She averaged 3.52 kills/set, the fourth best average in the Sun Belt, and posted double-digit kills in 25 of 34 matches.

An all-around player for the Trojans, Zelenovic also posted 275 digs (2.13/set) with 10 double-doubles while also leading the Trojans with 33 service aces on the season.

Zelenovic and the Trojans open their season on Friday, August 29, when they travel to the Big Orange Bash hosted by Clemson for four matches. The Trojans open their home schedule on Labor Day, September 1, when Southern Miss visits Trojan Arena at 1 p.m.

Troy will also host the Trojan Invitational on September 4-5 as Mercer, Alabama A&M and Jacksonville State visit Troy for a six-match, two-day tournament.
