TROY, Ala. – In addition to announcing Lizzie Clough as the program's assistant coach, Troy volleyball head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick announced the addition of former player Breanna Cullity as a graduate assistant coach on Tuesday.
Â
Cullity was a two-year letter winner for the Trojans from 2011 to 2012. In those two seasons, she helped the Trojans to two Sun Belt Championships appearances, including a semifinal appearance in 2012.
Â
A middle hitter for the Trojans, Cullity recorded 578 kills in her two seasons and hit .231. She also recorded 191 total blocks, including 130 in 2012, the second most in a single season in Troy's Division I history.
Â
The Colorado Springs, Colo., helped Troy to a 21-12 overall record and a 10-5 mark in Sun Belt play in 2012. The school-record 10 conference wins helped the Trojans to a program-best second place finish in the Sun Belt.
Â
"I'm glad that Breanna is coming back to help move our program in right direction," Kirkpatrick said. "She'll work with our middle hitters and her experience at that position will definitely help us out."
Â
The Trojans open their season on Friday, August 29, when they travel to Big Orange Bash hosted by Clemson for four matches. Troy will open its home schedule on Monday, September 1, against Southern Miss at 1 p.m. at Trojan Arena.
