Thirty-Seven Troy University Student-Athletes Graduate Friday

TROY, Ala. – Thirty-seven Troy University student-athletes received their degrees on Friday during the 2014 Troy University Spring Commencement ceremonies in Trojan Arena. Over 700 Troy University students received their degrees on Friday, including the 47 student-athletes that represented 12 different sports.

General Victor E. Renuart, Jr., delivered the keynote address at the ceremony. General Renuart, who earned a master's degree in psychology from then-Troy State University, entered the Air Force in 1971, and has commanded a fighter squadron, a NATO support group and a fighter wing. He served as commander of the 76th Fighter Squadron during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and supported Operation Deny Flight as director of plans for the NATO Combined Air Operations Center at Headquarters 5th Allied Tactical Air Force. He also commanded Joint Task Force –Southwest Asia and 9th Air and Space Expeditionary Task Force-Southwest Asia, where he was responsible for the control and execution of Operation Southern Watch.

General Renuart's awards and decorations include the Defense Distinguished Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Aerial Achievement Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, and the Air Force Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster. He was a command pilot with more than 3,900 flight hours, including 60 combat missions.
