Troy Holds Student-Athlete Graduation Luncheon

TROY, Ala. – Troy's graduating student-athletes were honored on Wednesday in Troy's annual student-athlete graduation luncheon, hosted by the office of student-athlete services. At the event, graduating student-athletes received their athletic participation varsity letter, Sun Belt medallion and senior gift.
Many members of the university and athletics department staffs were on hand. Dr. Fred Green, Troy's Faculty Athletic Representative, presented the team academic awards to the men's and women's team with the highest team GPA. The awards went to the men's golf and Sun Belt Champion women's golf teams.
Additional special awards were also presented during the luncheon, including the strength of character award, which was given to former softball student-athlete Tara Blackwell. A full list of the special awards is listed below.
Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award – Tyler Vaughn, Baseball
Strength of Character Award – Tara Blackwell, Softball
Student-Athletes of the Year
Clements Award – Tyler Vaughn, Baseball
Sorrell Award – Courtney Cohen, Volleyball
Haley Davies, Women's Track and Field
NSCA Collegiate All-American Award
Male Recipient – Garrett Pitts, Baseball
Female Recipient – Langley Vannoy, Women's Golf
