Trojans to Face In-State Rival UAB Thursday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Troy University softball team is set to take on in-state rival UAB in a midweek contest on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in Birmingham.

Troy (16-24-2) dropped a pair at ULM last weekend, with both going into extra innings. Jaycee Affeldt was strong in game one, allowing just three hits over 8-plus innings of work, but the Warhawks capitalized in the bottom of the ninth to take the 1-0 win. The Trojans bounced back in the second game to pick up 11 hits, the second most this season, but eventually fell in eight innings, 4-3.

Alison Milam is coming off a great week in which she hit .500. Kacie McAllister and Ebony Wright were also solid at the plate, hitting .462 and .429, respectively.

UAB (23-16) split against Tulsa in its last series. The Blazers will face No. 3 Alabama on Wednesday night in Tuscaloosa.

Caitlin Attfield leads the Blazers with a .409 batting average. Megan McGrath leads the squad with 13 home runs, while Kristen McGrath is tops on the team with 31 RBIs. Leigh Streetman has been the top starter in the circle, posting a 1.78 ERA with 142 strikeouts.

Troy is 13-9 all-time against UAB, including a 2-1 win over the Blazers in Troy last season. The Trojans are 5-5 against the Blazers in Birmingham.
