TROY, Ala. – The Troy University baseball team will wrap up non-conference play for the season as UAB visits Riddle-Pace Field on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. contest. The game will be broadcast on WTBF 94.7 FM and streamed live on TroyTrojans.com.
Troy is looking to rebound from a series loss to UT Arlington over the weekend while UAB (27-16) broke a five-game losing skid by sweeping Conference USA foe Marshall in a three-game series.
The Trojans (21-24) defeated UAB 7-2 on April 1, in Birmingham. The game was a coming-out party for catcher Adam Tewksbury and pitcher Chase Davidson. Tewksbury finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBIs while Davidson, making his first appearance of the season, tossed six scoreless innings of one-hit baseball.
David Hall continues to lead Troy offensively and built on his category advantage by belting his ninth home run – a grand slam - and upping his RBI total to 40 for the year. Hall is batting .366 on the season, the highest mark on the squad.
Utility player Jakob Nixon has played well of late, batting .444 (8-for-18) with five runs scored and three RBIs over his last five games. Marc Skinner also turned in a quality week of work; pitching 6 1/3 scoreless innings while picking up his fourth save of the season on Saturday. Trevin Hall ended his week on a high note by finishing Sunday's contest with three hits including his sixth home run.
Griffin Gum leads the Blazers' offensive charge with a .299 average. Jeff Schalk paces the team with four home runs and 23 RBIs.
