Trojans Dedicate Dodds Center on Saturday

TROY, Ala. – Troy University and the Troy softball team kicked off family weekend with the dedication ceremony for the new Dodds Center, prior to Saturday's doubleheader against Texas State.
Named in honor of Mike and Cindy Dodds for their devotion to Troy University athletics, the Dodds Center is a new, state-of-the-art hitting facility that was constructed in the off-season as part of the new softball complex renovations. The 8,000 square foot facility houses a player locker room, player lounge, athletic training room and hitting and pitching areas.
Present at the ceremony were both Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins Jr., and Troy University Director of Athletics John Hartwell. Members of the Troy University softball team and staff were also be present for the ceremony.
The new softball facility underwent a $3 million facelift over the winter, including the new Dodds Center. The field was lowered to improve sight lines and the outfield was replaced with artificial grass. The press box was also updated to include offices, a media area with press box and an expanded concessions area, as well as new officials locker rooms.
